DARRYL BALZER - President
Darryl graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2005. He proceeded to earn his designation as a Chartered Accountant in 2007 and has spent most of his career as a Chief Financial Officer for private business in Saskatoon. He is married to Sharon who is a full-time mom and part time Registered Nurse and they have 2 boys, Levi and Henry. Through mentorship, training and field experience in South Sudan, God opened Darryl's eyes to the power of the Gospel in transforming both his own life and the lives of others. This has created a strong desire in Darryl to help others see, savor and spread the glory of God and His Kingdom.
As a former Hilltop and Huskie football player, Darryl is always looking to re-live the glory days but due to his aging body he can barely keep up to his 2 boys. His favorite sport is baseball and he cheers for the Detroit Tigers.
BRYAN VELLACOTT (aka Bry the Thrive Guy) Director of Community Development
Bryan is an alumnus of Bethany College. He graduated from Columbia Bible College in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Youth Ministry. Bryan is married to his beautiful wife Leslie.
Bryan is passionate about the Kingdom of God, the Church and Discipleship. He has a heart to see young people for Kingdom living and to see them grow in their walk with Jesus.

KAITLYN REMPEL - Female Resident Director
Kaitlyn is originally from Gretna Manitoba and is an alumnus of Steinbach Bible College where she graduated with a Christian Studies degree. She moved to Hepburn in September 2017 to join in the work that God is doing through the THRIVE Discipleship Program. Kaitlyn has a passion to mentor and walk alongside young adults as they grow in their independence and identity. She loves to help people discover and creatively live out the purpose God has for them in His Kingdom.
In her spare time, Kaitlyn enjoys frequenting thrift stores or exploring the great outdoors in search of inspiration for her next creative project.
NATE HASTIE - Male Resident Director
Nate comes to us from Langley BC where he has been very involved with Youth, Young Adults and Worship Ministries as a volunteer and intern. He attended Tauernhof Bible School in Austria six years ago. Since then, Nate has pursued further studies to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Intercultural Studies and a Diploma in Biblical Studies from Columbia Bible College. Nate recognizes the value of being a vessel that God uses to help people better encounter Him. Whether this is through mentoring, worship or teaching, he wants to help people better understand God, who they are and their relationship to Him.
Nate enjoys leading worship, coffee and going on adventures! He recently came back from a missions trip to Thailand where he taught English and worked with kids. Nate has a passion for the church to thrive on a local and global scale and is excited to be a part of it at THRIVE!
NICOLE MARTENS - Administrative Associate
Nicole is from Dalmeny Sask where she met and married David, her highschool sweetheart in 1996. They moved to Hepburn in 2002 where they have stayed to raise their (now adult) children, Luke and Emily. They have built a few houses and are now settled in their forever home in the river hills across Petrofka bridge. Nicole spent many many years teaching piano and voice in the public school in Hepburn. Although she loved teaching music lessons to kids, she always had a longing to work in ministry which brought her to THRIVE. She loves being at THRIVE and witnessing God at work everyday she is here! She has a heart for young people, particularly young women, and loves the impact she can have in their lives.
Nicole loves coffee dates and gardening. The term "empty nesters" is fast approaching for them which will allot for more time to go antiquing - a past time both her and David love to do together!

LEEANN KOPP - Finance Assistant
LeeAnn is from Herbert SK and an alumnus of Bethany College where she met her husband Scott. They have 3 beautiful girls who keep them very busy. LeeAnn feels very blessed to be working in a place like THRIVE. She knows God wants her here and loves working alongside so many wonderful people.
LeeAnn loves spending time with her family, watching sports, camping and gardening.
GERALD SCHULTZ - Maintenance Technician

MARTHA SCHULTZ - Director of Food Services
Martha is from Hepburn SK, married to Gerald Schultz. They farm 6km from Hepburn where they raised their children (now adults) Devin & Lindsay, Angela and Stacey.
Martha is qualified as a journeyman cook in the food service industry with many years of experience. She has a passion for serving people through her love of baking and cooking. She has a heart for young adults and enjoys interacting with students of all walks of life.
Martha enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also loves spending quality time with her young granddaughter. Martha enjoys fishing, gardening and baking for people in the community.
JOY THIELMANN - Food Services
Joy is married to Alvin and moved to Hepburn from Coaldale, AB in 2012. They have 3 adult children: Lane, married to Mikaela; Katelyn and Jay. Joy has also recently become a Grandma to sweet Annie.
Joy enjoys cooking in the Bethany kitchen, but interacting with the Thrive students is the highlight of her job.
She also enjoys her family, coffee with friends, gardening with her daughter, quilting, puzzling, making mittens and road tripping with Alvin.
MELANIE REMPEL - Custodian
Melanie is an alumnus of Bethany College where she met her husband Trevor. They have 2 amazing kids, Aidan and Lauren and enjoy acreage life just outside of Hepburn.
Melanie loves the energy and the feeling of family working at THRIVE. She loves watching young adults grow in their faith and discover the gifts God has given each unique person.
When she's not cleaning, Melanie loves to spend time with friends and family. She can often be found carrying a container of cupcakes, a pack of greeting cards or rescuing 'cast offs' to be given a new purpose.
